F.A.Q
Everything you need to know and moreWhat do I wear? Will I get wet?
We work to keep you as dry as possible but kayaking is a water-sport and you’re going to get a bit wet, so be prepared!
We advise that you bring the following with you:
– Comfortable clothes and footwear to wear on the kayak (these will get wet!)
– A towel
– A change of clothes for when you are finished
– If you have waterproof clothing or a wetsuit you can bring them along for your own use
– We do ask that you dress appropriately for the weather
Will we still kayak if it’s raining?
Our weather policy is that our activity takes place rain or shine. As we operate in a sheltered area we rarely have to cancel our activities. The only weather element that will prevent us from heading out onto the river is wind strength.
In the rare situation where we have to cancel your event we will offer a full refund or the chance to reschedule your session to another time (subject to availability).
Is there an age limit for participation?
- Our activities are suitable for people aged 8 and up.
- Participants under 18 must have a parent or supervising adult present at all times.
Can I bring a camera?
You certainly can bring a camera with you – but only if you are prepared for it to possibly get wet. If you have a waterproof case for your phone we suggest to bring it.
Will I have a life vest?
Yes, we fit all participants with a life vest before we set off. In addition, we have our safety boat travel alongside the kayaks throughout the journey. The safety boats will assist you if you are having any difficulties while on the water and will even give you a gentle tow if you are feeling tired.
How many people are in each kayak?
We have double and triple kayaks available, however if you rather be on your own on a double just mention it to the instructor on the day of the trip and we’ll do our best to accomodate you.
Refund/Rescheduling Policy
Cancellations must be made in writing no less than 10 days before the activity is due to take place. Non-attendance will result in the full amount being forfeited. However if you would like to reschedule the trip to a later day we will be able to move you with just 2 days notice.
City Kayaking reserves the rights to cancel activities at any time without prior notice when we believe it is necessary for safety reasons (e.g. unsafe weather conditions). In this case, customers will be given the option to reschedule or offered a full refund.
