Unique Experience

The river Liffey flows calmly through the heart of Dublin and was the true motivation for the historical foundation  of the city. It’s been used throughout the centuries and there is no better way to see and understand the Irish capital than paddling its gentle waters.

Incredible Location

We operate from Dublin City Moorings, right through the very centre of the beating heart of the capital. Our river trip is the only way to actually paddle under the famous O’Connell and Ha’penny bridges! City Kayaking is a fantastic way to see Dublin’s most famous landmark sites from a unique angle!

Accessible to all

No experience is needed to use our open top (sit on top) kayaks. They are very stable and simple to use with up to three people onboard each boat, and if you get a little tired our safety boats are available to give a tow. Kayaking is safe and fun, and suits every level of fitness.

Everything you need to know

“The only thing to do with good advice is to pass it on. It is never of any use to oneself”.

Oscar Wilde

Kayaking Info
  • Please arrive a few minutes before your booking time. We will meet you at the blue front gate on the quays and bring you through.
  • All our kayaks are doubles and triples. We think it’s much more fun with a minimum of two people in each kayak but if you really want to fly solo we can put you in a small double kayak.
  • The trips are led by our experienced local guides and our kayaks are very stable “sit on top”, ideal for beginners.  The experience takes about 2 hours of which at least 90 minutes on the water.
  • Our minimum age is 8 years old. Under 16’s must be accompanied on the water at all times by an adult.
What to wear?

Kayaking on the Liffey is great fun, it’s safe and accessible but don’t forget that you’ll actually be on the water! For this very simple reason we recommend that you’ll come to our sessions wearing clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet, (shorts or leggings are ideal in the summer, fleece and warmer trousers in the winter) something to get changed into and a towel. Due to COVID-19 we are not currently able to offer a changing facility on site and nor can we store your valuables. We will provide a buoyancy aid to keep you safe and warm!

Picture taking

You will not want to forget the fun you had kayaking with us and we understand that the best way to remember it is by taking pictures. You are welcome to bring your own camera on the water, however we’ll never stress enough how careful you need to be about it.
