Kayaking is for couples! On February 14th at 4.00 p.m. paddle together! We will stop under O’Connell bridge to be serenaded by a local musician while enjoying strawberries and a glass of bubbly. If that’s not a perfect date we don’t know what is! Only 78€ for the two of you!
The river Liffey (River of Life) flows calmly through the heart of Dublin City and was the true motivation for the historical foundation of the city. There is no better way to see and understand the Irish capital than paddling its gentle waters.
We run our river trips from Dublin City Moorings through the very center of the beating heart of the capital. Our river trip is the only way to actually paddle under the famous O’Connell and Ha’penny bridges! City Kayaking is a fantastic way to see Dublin’s most famous landmark sites from a unique angle!
Accessible to all
No experience is needed to use our open top (sit on top) kayaks. They are very stable and simple to use with 1/3 people on board each boat, and if you get a little tired our safety boats are available to give a tow. Our trip are safe and fun, moving at a pace that suits every level of fitness.
nature is our only boss!
Here at City Kayaking we like to work with nature so we time all our daily river trips with the flow of the tides, that means that you’ll be paddling towards the City centre in the same direction of the current. This way you’ll be paddling almost at city level while enjoying the city without having to struggle!
Everything you need to know
“The only thing to do with good advice is to pass it on. It is never of any use to oneself”.
- Please arrive 10/15 min before your scheduled tour time to ensure tours stay on schedule.
- Plan on being on the water for approx: 1.5 hrs
- A normal tour travels approx 4 chilometers along the Liffey River stopping frequently to rest and chat.
What to wear?
Kayaking on the Liffey is great fun, it’s safe and accessible but don’t forget that you’ll actually be on the water! For this very simple reason we recommend that you’ll come to our sessions wearing clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet, (shorts or leggings are ideal in the summer, fleece and warmer trousers in the winter) something to get changed into and a towel. We do have changing facility on site and a safe place to leave your valuables. We’ll also provide a waterproof top and a buoyancy to keep you safe and warm!
You will not want to forget the fun you had kayaking with us and we understand that the best way to remember is by taking pictures. You are welcome to bring your own camera on the water, however we’ll never stress enough how careful you need to be about it as we’ve seen many fall overboard. For this reason our guides always offer to get your picture taken and we’ll be sharing them on our facebook page so you can check them out and share them with your friends and family!
